Chris Berry here. today we’re going to talk about what is estate planning really all about? Estate planning is really about peace of mind. That’s why clients are contacting us. They want peace of mind to know that their affairs are taken care of, that if something were to happen to them, whether it’s a longterm care events, whether they were to pass away, that the legacy they leave wouldn’t be one of leaving a mess, but really leaving things taken care of, so that they feel comfortable knowing that their spouse is taken care of, that their children are taken care of, that their loved ones are taken care of.
For example, I was meeting with a client today, and their biggest concern, the husband’s big concern was that if something were to happen to him, if he were to need longterm care, to make sure that his wife would be provided for. His concern was that if he got diagnosed with dementia or had a stroke, and now he had to pay $8,000 to $12,000 a month, to pay for that cost of care, he wanted to make sure that his wife was taken care of, that she wouldn’t be completely impoverished, just because he had to pay for these longterm care costs.
I was meeting with another client, and he wanted to ensure that the money that him and his wife, they worked so hard for, that it wouldn’t be eroded from taxes, market crashes, longterm care costs. He wanted to make sure that he could spend his money, and then he wanted to leave a legacy for his children.
That’s really what we do. We help people get peace of mind, to know that their affairs will be taken care of, that everything they work so hard for would be protected.
