Brighton, MI Walk to End Alzheimer’s was a Huge Success!

The Brighton, MI Walk to End Alzheimer’s was a huge, resounding success. This is the first year that Main Street in downtown Brighton was shut down for the event. There were over 600 people at the event this year and over $90,000 in funds were raised to help end Alzheimer’s. This not only exceeded the amount raised last year by $15,000 but exceeded the Walk Committeee’s goal of $85,000.
Thank you to the clients, fellow senior service professionals, staff, and family that were part of The Elder Care Crew on walk day or donated to the cause. Thank you…thank you….thank you. As a team, The Elder Care Crew raised over $4,320 in funds for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
The Elder Care Firm was grateful to be honored for their efforts in being the top fundraising team as The Elder Care Crew, which not only included many of The Elder Care Firm team, including estate planning lawyer, Brandon Thomson, but also included valued clients and other professional partners.
Many members of The Elder Care Firm also served as walk committee members and volunteers in helping to organize the walk. We were honored to help support such a worthy and needy cause. We look forward to beating our goals next year.
From Livingston County’s WHMI reporting on the event.
Walkers completed one or three mile routes and learned about Alzheimer’s disease and how to get involved. Participants were provided with information about advocacy opportunities, clinical studies and support programs and services. The event also included an emotional tribute to those who have experienced or are experiencing Alzheimer’s disease. Maggie Gibbons, Walk Manager for the Alzheimer’s Association Michigan Great Lakes Chapter, says the cause has touched the lives of far too many. She feels the community embraces the event every year and says it’s inspiring to “look out at a sea of purple” and know they’re making a difference.
Alzheimer’s Disease is a devastating disease that can have a devastating effect on families. As Michigan elder law attorneys, it’s our mission to help families navigate through the long-term care journey to protect quality of life as best possible.
